Uninstalling PrivX

This article provides steps for completely removing PrivX and its local configuration data from a server before reinstalling PrivX or decommissioning the server. The commands do not explicitly remove session recordings, backups, or an external database.

caution

These steps permanently delete local configuration files, key vault data, and, if applicable, the local PostgreSQL database. Back up any data you need to retain before proceeding.

To delete all PrivX related data from a PrivX server:

  1. Uninstall the PrivX package:

    sudo yum erase PrivX
  2. Remove the remaining installation directories, including configuration files and key vault data:

    sudo rm -rf /opt/privx
    sudo rm -rf /opt/py
  3. If PrivX uses a local PostgreSQL database, remove PostgreSQL and its data directory:

    sudo yum erase postgresql
    sudo rm -rf /var/lib/pgsql/
  4. Remove Nginx, its remaining configuration files and TLS certificates:

    sudo yum erase nginx
    sudo rm -rf /etc/nginx
  5. Remove the remaining privx-cert.json file:

    sudo rm /tmp/privx-cert.json
