Deploying PrivX
A PrivX deployment requires at least one PrivX Server. PrivX Servers provide core services, including the PrivX Web UI and certificate-based authentication. Add optional components to support the access methods and monitoring capabilities your deployment requires.
You can deploy PrivX on premises or in a cloud environment. For high availability, configure multiple PrivX servers. See the instructions for your deployment:
- Setting Up PrivX Components: Install and configure PrivX servers and optional components, including a single-server deployment on premises.
- Deploying PrivX in Cloud Environments: Follow platform-specific deployment instructions for supported cloud environments.
- High-Availability Deployment: Configure PrivX for high availability.
For the full list of PrivX Server components and services, see PrivX Microservice Architecture.
Before installing PrivX, review the requirements in Preparing for Deployment.
Managing PrivX Components
| Component | Purpose |
|---|---|
| PrivX Extender | Relays connections to target hosts that PrivX servers cannot reach directly. |
| PrivX Carrier and Web Proxy | Enable connections to HTTP and HTTPS targets. |
| PrivX Router | Enables access to network targets. |
| UEBA Server | Uses machine learning to detect potentially anomalous connections. |
- Installing and Configuring PrivX Components: Install and configure a PrivX server, activate its license, and verify the installation. Then install and configure any optional components your deployment requires.
- Upgrading PrivX: Upgrade the PrivX server and database before upgrading optional components. Upgrade PrivX Carriers and Web Proxies together.
- Uninstalling PrivX: Remove PrivX server software and the local files and directories specified in the removal procedure, for example, before reinstalling PrivX or decommissioning the server.
