PrivX LTS (Long-Term Support)
PrivX LTS (Long-Term Support) version is designed for customers who prioritize a stable operational environment, security, and reduced update frequency. The LTS model allows to run one stable PrivX version over an extended period and receive security updates and critical bug fixes. LTS releases do not include new features or significant changes. We aim to support an LTS version for two years.

Questions and Answers
How are LTS versions named?
LTS releases use this naming format NN.x.LTS.y, where:
- NN represents the major version of PrivX,
- x is the equivalent point release of the LTS designation, and
- y is the incremental number of LTS point releases that may follow.
For example, 36.3.LTS.2 would signify the LTS version for major version 36 with the third point release as the baseline, and it is the second LTS-specific update.
How do I upgrade between LTS and major releases?
PrivX supports different upgrade paths depending on whether the upgrade is performed with downtime or as a Zero-Downtime upgrade:
-
Upgrade with downtime supports the following paths:
- From 3 earlier major versions to PrivX LTS. For example, from PrivX 40.x, 41.x, or 42.x to PrivX 43 LTS.
- From PrivX LTS to the next 3 major versions. For example, from PrivX 43 LTS to PrivX 44.x, 45.x, or 46.x.
- From one LTS version to the next. For example, from PrivX 36 LTS to PrivX 43 LTS.
-
Zero-Downtime upgrade supports the following paths:
- From the previous major version to PrivX LTS. For example, from PrivX 42.x to PrivX 43 LTS.
- From an LTS release to the previous major version. For example, from PrivX 43 LTS to PrivX 44.x.
- From one LTS release to the next. For example, from PrivX 36 LTS to PrivX 43 LTS.
You cannot upgrade to an LTS version if your current major version is greater than the latest LTS version. For example, you cannot upgrade from 44.x to PrivX 43 LTS.
If you are upgrading through PrivX repository, we recommend version-locking PrivX packages to prevent accidental upgrades.

Where can I find the LTS documentation?
LTS documentation is a part of the same branch as the corresponding major release. For example, for PrivX 43 LTS, you can find the relevant documentation under the v43 branch at privx.docs.ssh.com.
Who should choose LTS releases?
LTS releases are suitable for customers who are satisfied with the current features of PrivX and prefer to minimize the frequency of updates, focusing on maintaining a stable and secure environment.
Can I downgrade from a major release to an LTS release?
Downgrading to LTS is unsupported.
How to avoid accidentally upgrading from LTS release to major release?
To avoid an accidental upgrade, you can disable PrivX repositories.
Is the LTS release applicable to deployment on Kubernetes?
Yes.
